Acoustic floor insulation

The Profloor acoustic range effectively reduces airborne and impact sound in various building applications. The range includes systems designed to enhance acoustic isolation, minimising noise transmission between rooms and floors. Profloor systems combine resilient layers and sound-absorbing materials. Their batten systems reduce vibration and impact sound, while deck systems improve acoustic performance in constrained spaces. These solutions are lightweight, easy to install, and suitable for a variety of floor constructions. Ravatherm is a versatile product that provides both thermal and sound insulation, effectively reducing noise while enhancing thermal efficiency for various building applications. Plusboard is a high-density solution that offers excellent sound absorption, improving acoustic performance in both new builds and refurbishments with reliable noise control. Plusfloor excels in reducing sound transmission. Engineered for effective impact sound insulation, it enhances quietness and comfort across various floor constructions.

Ground gas protection

The company’s Protech range of gas-resistant membranes is designed to control harmful ground gases, including Radon, Methane, and Carbon Dioxide, as well as Volatile Organic Compounds and Hydrocarbons. These specialised products are tailored to protect buildings on both greenfield and brownfield sites, addressing various site conditions and contamination levels. Protech membranes are engineered to be water-resistant and airtight, often replacing traditional Damp Proof Membranes (DPM) in many applications. However, depending on the specific construction and contamination levels, using a separate DPM in conjunction with the gas membrane might be advantageous.

For best results, these membranes should be installed by qualified professionals. The product range also includes accessories for sealing service penetrations and laps, such as gas-resistant Top Hats and foil-faced bitumen tapes, with welding recommended for high-contamination sites to ensure membrane integrity.

Thermal insulation

The A Proctor Group provide a highly efficient, aerogel based thermal insulation; Spacetherm. This can be supplied bonded to a variety of boards to provide the ideal internal insulation system for any project. With over 50 years in the industry, they provide a range of solutions, including thermal laminates, foam fabrication, tapered roofing, multi-foil insulation, and eco-friendly wood fibre products.

Condensation control

The company's Procheck brand specialises in condensation and ventilation control. Their high-performance vapour control layers, such as Profoil 861, are ideal for high-moisture environments like swimming pools. For roof insulation, Proctor Air provides an air and vapour permeable, water-resistant roofing underlay, allowing complex pitched roofs to breathe without air gaps or secondary venting, significantly reducing roof space condensation. A Proctor also offers a comprehensive range of vapour permeable membranes and vapour control layers suitable for various building applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Spacetherm?

Spacetherm A1 is a non-combustible, high-performance, ultra-thin silica aerogel insulation designed for solid walls. It enhances thermal efficiency and improves fire safety in façade systems, making it ideal for applications where space is limited.

Is aerogel insulation worth it?

Aerogel is not only one of the most effective insulating materials, but it also provides excellent thermal insulation in a remarkably thin layer. This makes it an ideal option for situations where space is limited but high-performance insulation is needed, despite its higher cost.
