Protect the foundation of your building with Foamglas cellular glass insulation.

Trusted by architects and construction companies for high-rise projects, Foamglas insulation is a high-compressive option that is fire-rated, moisture & corrosion-resistant, and can withstand heavy loads.

Protect building foundations with Foamglas Insulation

Foamglas is one of the go-to building products for architects and construction companies seeking high-compressive strength insulation, which is both moisture-resistant and fire-rated. Ticking both boxes, Foamglas stands tall as one of the best insulation choices for high-rise buildings.

Suitable for a variety of applications, including underneath blockwork to prevent cold from transferring through the concrete and into the walls, underneath damp-proof courses to prevent moisture from rising into buildings, and flat roof applications where compressive strength is required.

The Foamglas range also includes a variety of accessories, including PC56 adhesive- a solvent-free two-component adhesive used for bonding Foamglas slabs to concrete, masonry, wood and two Foamglas layers together.

There are many Foamglas insulation products available, each serving a different purpose:

If required, FOAMGLAS® can be installed in two or more layers. Easily cut or trimmed with a hand saw blade. non-combustibility.

Foamglas Perinsul HL

Foamglas Perinsul is the most popular product in the Foamglas range and is used to address cold bridging in concrete frame buildings. It is fire-rated, offers high compressive strength, and is placed under blockwork to stop cold from entering the concrete frame and bridging through to the other side. Unlike PIR or glass fibre insulation, Perinsul can support the weight of the construction.

  • Applications: Floor-wall base element to eliminate structural thermal bridging and rising damp at structural junctions.
  • Size: 100m x 450mm , 140mm x 450mm, 215mm x 450mm
  • Thickness: 65mm - 140mm
  • R-Value: 0.058 [W/(mK)]
  • Compressive Strength: fb ≥ 2.9 MPa
  • Density: 200 kg / m3
  • BRE Green Guide Rating: C

Foamglas F

Foamglas F is used in flat roof applications requiring excellent fire safety and high compression strength.

  • Applications: Flat and Tapered Roofs requiring compressive strength insulation, such as rooftops of residential buildings with balconies or commercial buildings with trafficable flat roofs.
  • Size: 600mm x 450mm
  • Thickness: 40mm - 180mm
  • R-Value: 0.050 [W/(mK)]
  • Compressive Strength: CS ≥ 1600 kPa
  • BRE Green Guide Rating: B

Foamglas S3

Foamglas S3 insulation features a load-bearing capacity suitable for mid-sized vehicles and maintenance machines.

  • Applications: Trafficable flat roofs, floors and foundation slabs requiring high compressive strength.
  • Size: 600mm x 450mm
  • Thickness: 40mm - 200mm
  • R-Value: 0.045 [W/(mK)]
  • Compressive Strength: CS ≥ 900 kPa
  • BRE Green Guide Rating: A

Foamglas T3+

Foamglas T3+ insulation is less dense and more efficient than the T4+, and is used when thermal performance and excellent compressive strength is required.

  • Applications: Flat roofs (concrete, metal deck and special roofs), façades, and interior insulation (walls, ceilings, floors) requiring fire and water resistance.
  • Size: 600mm x 450mm
  • Thickness: 50mm - 200mm
  • R-Value: 0.036 [W/(mK)]
  • Compressive Strength: CS ≥ 500 kPa
  • BRE Green Guide Rating: A

Foamglas T4+

Foamglas T4+ insulation is more dense and less efficient than the T3+, and is used when high compressive strength is paramount.

  • Applications: Flat roofs, façades, below-grade floors and walls, metal and special roofs, and interior insulation (walls, floors, ceilings) where high compressive strength is required.
  • Size: 600mm x 450mm
  • Thickness: 40mm - 200mm
  • R-Value: 0.041 [W/(mK)]
  • Compressive Strength: CS ≥ 600 kPa
  • BRE Green Guide Rating: A

Frequently Asked Questions

What is cellular glass insulation?

Cellular glass is a lightweight, rigid, and durable insulation system developed by Foamglas. It is made up of millions of completely sealed glass cells and boasts exceptional properties including incombustibility, superior compressive strength, guaranteed water and vapor-tightness, and long-lasting thermal insulation performance.

What is the difference between the T3 and T4?

Foamglas T3 and T4 differ in compression strength and efficiency, with T4 being denser but less efficient in insulation compared to T3. T3 is preferred for applications requiring fire resistance, water resistance, and optimal insulation value, while T4 may be suitable for situations where compression strength is paramount, albeit with slightly compromised insulation efficiency.

What is the difference between the boards and the blocks?

The main difference between the board and block versions of the insulation is the size.

Is Foamglas fire-rated?

FOAMGLAS® cellular glass insulation is non-combustible, doesn't contribute to fire spread, doesn't release smoke or toxic gases, nor produce flaming droplets that can cause injury and contribute to fire development.

It has a melting point in excess of 1,000°C (for thicknesses of 80mm and above, when tested to DIN 4102-17), and a significant portion of its core mass remains after 90 minutes. When exposed to fire, it undergoes vitrification, forming a durable ‘protective layer’ on the surface.
